One of the most precious fruits grown on American soil that many people do not even know how to eat is the avocado. When we think of a fruit, many of us think something sweet. The avocado is not that kind of fruit. Instead, it is rich, velvety and creamy at times. Grown in Southern California, Texas and other regions, this fruit is used in many Mexican dishes that many may know as guacamole. Avocado when ripe is tender to the touch. You can enjoy the avocado by either peeling it or cutting the meat from the seed, or split it and scoop the flesh the fruit out of the shell.
