Mummified Bread

The world's oldest preserved bread is probably from Egypt, where bread more than 5,000 years old has been found.

The people who built the pyramids ate bread every day, and many experts on Ancient Egypt think that bread and beer were the staples of every meal for young and old, poor and wealthy. For thousands of years, Egyptians made bread out of emmer wheat, an ancient grain, later switching to regular bread wheat, the same kind that is used today.
