Sundae Indulgence: Only $1,000

Popular New York restaurant Serendipity 3 has one of the longest-running, most expensive luxury desserts in the world, the Guinness Book of World Records-winning Golden Opulence Sundae.

The sundae is covered in edible gold leaf. Tahitian vanilla ice cream spiked with Madagascar vanilla beans and Venezuelan chocolate is drizzled with costly Italian chocolate and adorned with more candy fruit, gold-covered almonds, and chocolate truffles. The dessert even comes with sweet caviar served on a mother-of-pearl spoon with a gilded sugar flower. Diners get to take home the Baccarat crystal goblet, but the 14-karat gold spoon has to stay with the restaurant . . .
