A hearty soup, and so many different ways to make it. This is an authentic French recipe from one of my family members. Make it however you like, but make it this way at least once.


2 1/2 lbs yellow onions
3 TBSP unsalted butter
1 TBSP canola oil
Pinch of sugar
salt and freshly ground pepper
2 cups light red or dry white wine
